Registered education charity Medical Cannabis Research Australia (MCRA) is holding a free webinar discussing cannabinoid therapy and pancreatic cancer.

On Wednesday the 19th of May, MCRA will hold a special event: ‘Pancreatic Cancer and You’. The event will present the research work of Professor Marco Falasca.

Professor Falasca is a specialist in metabolic science who has been completing preclinical work on treating pancreatic cancer using a combination of chemotherapy and cannabinoids. Specifically, his preclinical work used cannabinoids to manage chemotherapy symptoms throughout treatment. He currently works at Head Metabolic Signalling Group and Curtin University of Western Australia.

Professor Falasca will be discussing how pancreatic cancer is diagnosed, how it progresses, current treatments, and where cannabinoids fit into this picture. The event is free to attend and is open to anyone. However, it is generally geared towards people who have pancreatic cancer or are caring for someone who does.

Other speakers and physicians will also give presentations at the event, including:

  • MRCA’s director Jason Jordan, who will present an interview with a patient who used medical cannabis for pancreatic cancer
  • Dr. David Ransom from Upper GI and NET Services and Fiona Stanley Hospital. He will discuss pancreatic cancer
  • Dr. James (Jim) Connell, a Cannabinoid Specialist GP from Forage Medicine & Lifestyle. He will discuss the endocannabinoid system, phytocannabinoids, and cannabinoid medications

MRCA’s event is being held in collaboration with the US-based organisation Cannabis for Cancer Declaration and the Pancreatic Cancer Initiative. The event will run from 7 pm AEST / 5 pm AWST and will last roughly one hour and a half. The event will conclude with a question and answer session open to anyone.

If you would like to attend the event, you can register for free here.
