David Limbrick urges colleagues to open their eyes and end war on drugs

David Limbrick, a member of the Liberal Democrats, has stood up and voiced his concerns on Australia failing to actively end the war on drugs.

In the Liberal Democrats Inaugural speech presented to the Victorian Parliament, David has come out swinging at his colleagues, urging them to end the “pointless, costly, and deadly war on drugs”.

He compares the current Australian war on drugs to the massively failed experiments of alcohol prohibition in the US during the 1920s.

As a taxpayer, I’ve had enough of spending billions of dollars on our justice, health, and welfare systems to support prohibition.

Backing up his claims, David brings into account the wonderfully successful drug policies implemented by the Portuguese government – which has de-criminalised the use and possession of drugs.

It’s a big call to ask Australia to de-criminalise all drugs in our current state. How about we start with cannabis first and go from there?
