Victorian police seize 400kg of cannabis in one day

Victorian Police have had a busy week, after carrying out four major raids in Melbourne’s South as part of a crackdown on cannabis.

Detectives from the Caufield Division Response Unit raided four Melbourne properties on Wednesday, including residences in:

  • Rotorua Street, Caufield South
  • Sycamore Street, Caufield South
  • Beach Road, Hampton East
  • Union Road, Brighton East

As a result, police were able to seize roughly 400kg of live cannabis plants cannabis between the properties. In a statement on Crime Watch Victoria’s Facebook page police valued the cannabis at a street value of $1 million

As the cannabis was not dried, we cannot determine whether this estimate lines up with the Aussie Weed Guide. However, the public has previously accused Australian police of overvaluing the cannabis seized in raids. One commenter was quick to point this out, writing:

Tell ‘em they’re dreaming, how much do they really want for it?

Police are continuing their investigation into the cannabis crops, but no arrests have been made yet. Crime Watch has appealed to the public for information.
