Multiple Cannabis Seizures in the Northern Territory

Northern Territory Police have seized less than a kilo of cannabis in early April - 220g and 360g in two separate incidents. The 220g was found during routine checks of a community airport. Diesel, the local police dog, was on duty that day and he sniffed out one box in particular - a 24" TV. It was already suspicious because it's the first time in two years that a new 24" TV has been ordered. Police went on to investigate and found the TV unit had been tampered with. Upon opening, they found the cannabis neatly packed and ready for sale inside. The TV unit housing cannabis inside it NT Police estimate the value of the cannabis at $33,000 which, according to our calculations, equates to $150/gram. That must be some of the finest weed the world's ever seen. In another seizure, 360g of cannabis destined for remote NT communities was found at Darwin Airport. Detective Senior Sergeant Crispin Gargan mentioned police will continue to crack down on drugs being shipped to remote communities using task forces such as Operation Stark.
