755 Cannabis Plants Seized In Sydney

New South Wales police have celebrated another win in their war on weed, seizing more than 755 cannabis plants in Sydney’s South West. A total of 704 of the live plants were seized during a raid on early Tuesday morning, which was carried out on a modern residence in Bankstown. It appears the residence was acting as the local hydroponics house, as a large amount of sophisticated hydroponics equipment was seized as well. Bizarrely, clothes were also among the items seized. As to why…we aren’t quite sure. In total, over $1,927,000 worth of weed was discovered. The value of the clothes has not been released. On Wednesday, two other search warrants were carried out in Yagoona and Padstow. This time, 51 live cannabis plants were seized in Yagoona. These were worth over $250,000 - bringing NSW Police’s running total to over $2 million in seized cannabis. Several stolen vehicles were also found, including a BMW sedan, a trailer, and an excavator. Australian police officer roughly handling cannabis plants Detective Inspector Rick Mansley spoke to Channel 7 News, saying:

We found in both houses a fairly sophisticated hydroponics setup and quite a number of cannabis plants.

At this time, no arrests have been made as no one was living in the makeshift grow houses. This raid was a part of NSW Police’s Strike Force Polar.
