Based on America, Australian states will start to legalise cannabis in 2021

The 2019 National Drug Household survey reported that for the first time in it's history, more Australians supported legalising cannabis than keeping it under prohibition.

The shift in perception comes after years and years of trying to revert the effects of the many fear-mongering campaigns over the past century. With the Australian media vastly increasing their cannabis coverage over the past decade as well.

It's a bit of a far cry, but it was back in 2011 when the same thing happened in the USA. According to Statista, 50% of Americans wanted it legalised, with just 46% opposing, and the rest having no opinion.

And the question asked of Australians in the recent survey:

What happened in America the year after the majority of them supported cannabis legalisation? Colorado and Washington legalised it.

Of course, there are a range of other factors that will affect the timeline of legalisation across Australia's states. But if we simply base it on what the people want, cannabis will soon become freely available (away from the international criminal networks currently owning the black market).

There's no denying it, cannabis prohibition will end in Australia - it's only a matter of time.
