Brain Built

Brain Built is an ethical carpentry business run by William Brain that specialises in building with high-quality timbers and hempcrete, which is a building material made from lime and hemp. William travelled to the UK to learn hempcrete building from industry leader Graham Durrant (who owns Hemp Lime Spray). 

Brain Built is based in Melbourne, where they have a workshop in Coburg. His business works on a wide range of projects, including furniture, home and shopfitting and hospitality work. He also offers woodworking classes. 

Brain Built's hempcrete homes are energy-efficient and carbon-neutral, as hempcrete is environmentally friendly and provides excellent insulation. Hempcrete can actually reduce the cost of heating and cooling a home by 68%. 

William designs his hempcrete projects in collaboration with architects, clients and designers. He also uses reclaimed timbers in his designs.
